The Opportunity
We are looking to fill a publicity manager role for India on our team. We are looking for candidates who enjoy strategizing publicity and promotional campaigns for TV series and/or films, are experts on the Indian media landscape and know who the key media are across the country and the content they respond to most, and have experience working with actors and filmmakers. We have some great original series and films coming to Netflix – from the new season of House of Cards to Marvel's The Defenders to Will Smith's upcoming film Bright, and a lot in between – so if you live and breathe entertainment and are excited about what we are doing, we want to talk to you. Netflix has grown to more than 100 million streaming members in more than 190 countries. With more incredible series and films on the way, it's a great time to join Netflix.
The Role
The Publicity Manager for India will play a key role in strategizing, managing and executing publicity campaigns in India for original series and films, adapting global strategies for the needs of their markets and making use of multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print and online. They will focus on creating cultural moments and high impact campaigns, explore new tactics of promoting series, films and documentaries, and will be able to communicate different facets of their campaigns to agencies and other audiences across Netflix.
She or he will have experience working at or with an agency / production house, as they will manage agencies in region (where applicable) to pitch media, secure opportunities and cover set visits or help plan and work junkets. They will serve as the expert on the regions they manage, able to convey cultural needs and nuances that impact the global campaign. They can formulate and manage a budget, and give visibility into their process successfully. They are confident and creative in their writing, capable of crafting everything from a strategy to executive messaging, a press release and everything in between. Pack your bag because travel is a requirement.
A strong candidate is able to make wise decisions, even when faced with ambiguity, and thinks strategically. They can articulate what they are - and are not - trying to do. He or she is a good listener and a real doer, and is able to multi-task and work at a quick pace. They can handle a vast amount of work and they are eager to learn. They are curious and also contribute effectively outside of their specialty. A good fit in the role has a candid and direct communication style, they are willing to admit to mistakes quickly and questions values inconsistent with our values and Netflix culture. They understand that sometimes the job requires delivering bad news, and they're tactful in handling such issues.
He/she will be a member of a small, seasoned group of professionals helping formulate, execute and sustain a global media strategy for Netflix in Asia. The Communications function is viewed by Netflix senior management as strategically critical to building on the company's already impressive success in a fast-changing, highly competitive global media landscape.
The role has strong cross functional interaction with teams in the US, Europe and Asia, with a high level of visibility and impact within the business. He/she must be fluent in social media and marketing in order to partner effectively with these groups on campaigns and provide insight to different internal local teams on potential publicity opportunities.
A strong belief in our culture. We live by our values, so it's worth learning more about them at Life At Netflix.
