The Opportunity
Fueled by the broad appeal of being able to instantly enjoy unlimited movies and TV shows, Netflix has grown to have over 100 million streaming members in over 190 countries. This is a great opportunity to join a team that is spearheading promotional campaigns for such a fast growing and highly admired company, with a chance to strategize, plan and execute events & festival activity alongside a team that is working on series and films that feature high production value from the brightest filmmakers and actors in the industry, using the latest technology.
The Role
The successful candidate will consolidate EMEA publicity strategy into large scale events - including multi-title junkets, conventions, slate events & festivals. By spearheading the 'publicity' aspects of our events, they will be an integral conduit between:
-Our campaign managers, who oversee title campaign strategies for series, film & documentaries
-Our EMEA market leads, who build to our Netflix business strategy in local markets alongside their cross-functional counterparts
-Our EMEA events team, responsible for strategizing, executing and managing events across the region
The role will work alongside the team that is helping to create, shape, execute and manage title campaigns, meaning that he/she will have to be in sync and show a curiosity about promotional efforts and contribute to improve campaigns with new and innovative ideas. They will create & manage press & festival schedules whilst working alongside the designated Events Manager to ensure the event space & logistics will fulfill our press requirements.
We are looking for a team member who is able to formulate and drive creative and executable ideas, communicating those decisions to all stakeholders, and suggesting better approaches when necessary. Strong candidates can articulate clear goals and help to maintain alignment within all Netflix cross functional partners involved in the multi-faceted events. He/she will be able to communicate with a wide array of outside parties including but not limited to filmmakers, talent representatives, agencies, vendors, festival programmers and event leads to streamline communications and ensure the best possible representation of Netflix. The ideal candidate has managed international press schedules for film, TV or entertainment brands. If they have experience working in film or television awards campaigns, that is a bonus. They can formulate and manage a budget, and give visibility into their process successfully. Pack your bag because international travel is a requirement.
S/he is able to make wise decisions, even when faced with ambiguity and thinks strategically. He/she can articulate what they are - and are not - trying to do. He or she is a good listener and a real doer. They are organized, thorough and not afraid to get their hands dirty - and that will mean jumping in to handle tasks that range from hiring an agency to schedule a multi-facted event with multiple film-makers & talent, to booking a venue themselves or to working a check-in table. The responsibility is wide-ranging. They collaborate well with partners that range from the publicists overseeing global strategy to content/programming to marketing to social to product and beyond. Strong candidates can handle a vast amount of work and they are eager to learn. They are curious and also contribute effectively outside of their speciality. A good fit in the role has a candid and direct communication style, they are willing to admit to mistakes quickly and questions values inconsistent with our values.
Qualifications
The successful candidate for Slate Activities EMEA will have at least 6 years of entertainment experience organizing, planning, executing and staffing events at an agency, studio, network or with a brand. They will either have experience working in the awards space on submission paperwork, and if they do not, they will be willing and eager to dive in and learn. BA/BS required.
