The Localization Coordinator for Netflix Originals will be responsible for ensuring that Netflix customers across the globe get the highest quality in-market experience from the subtitles, forced narratives, and audio dubs for our Originals content.
What you'll do:
The role is vital to the customer experience as a localized experience is key to the equal access of Netflix Originals titles. We believe there should be no barriers between storytellers and the global audience.
Localization Coordination team strives to raise the bar of quality of localized content through management of localization and QC of Netflix Original titles. In cooperation with Content Localization and Localization Operations Specialist teams, Localization Coordination will contribute to the success of all content, whether domestic or international, by producing strong and culturally relevant localized assets providing equal accessibility to all Netflix customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create and assign all localization QC requests. Book translation, QC, and QC verification tasks to freelance linguist resources
• Ensure that all gathered resources (reference materials) are available and provided to the linguists before they begin work
• Stay up to date with any updates to materials (e.g. KNPs, English scripts, show guides etc.)
• Track all assets and liaise with Localization Operations Specialists, Content Localization, and Catalog QC as well as other cross-functional teams to set expectations and learn of/advise of any potential issues
• Attend initial project kickoffs as necessary as launch approaches in order to gain relevant context, particularly for asset-level issues
• Cultivate initiatives relating to Translator QCer metric redefinition, monitoring and reporting
• Support initiatives pertaining to QCer onboarding and training
• Drive and participate in Translator/QCer recruitment and screening
• Source and identify the best linguists available and align them with shows suitable to their skills (with the assistance of auto-routing)
• Monitor the performance of linguists and realign talents based on metrics as required.
What you'll bring
• Fluency in a second language preferred
• A penchant for innovation and a passion for trying out and developing new ideas
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Prior experience in managing workflows of localization assets in the entertainment industry
• Interest in subtitle creation and translation and a passion for languages and translation quality
• Deep understanding of differences, subtleties, and nuances between subtitle and dub translation
• Adaptable and resilient. You can turn on a dime to support new priorities, technology, tools and workflows
• Attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, analytical and multitasking skills
