Full Time Job
We are looking for a motivated individual to successfully support our Trip Development, Custom Trips team. This person will prepare proposals, write day-by-day itineraries, create trip budgets, research NGS/NGM databases to identify National Geographic content, assist with data entry, maintain procedures/templates for the team, and provide general support to the team as needed. This person will report to the Senior Manager of Trip Development for Custom Trips, and support 1-3 Trip Development Managers.
Responsibilities
• Trip Proposal Creation: Create trip proposals using a standard word template. Write day-by-day itineraries following itinerary-writing standards.
• Budget Creation: Create trip budgets using an excel template. Enter all cost information received from suppliers.
• Database and Resource Management: Enter and maintain accurate trip, passenger, and supplier information into our database. Update templates and procedures as needed, and keep trip development resources up to date and organized.
• Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous customer service to incoming client inquiries via phone or email as needed.
• Administrative: Provide support to the Trip Development team on projects as needed.
Qualifications:
• Educational Experience: B.A. degree and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training. Background in sales, marketing/writing, customer service, event planning, logistics and travel is a plus.
• Destination Knowledge and Travel Experience: International travel experience is required. Our travelers are typically well-educated and well-traveled and the ability to talk about destinations from first-hand experience is important.
• Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to delivering the highest level of quality and service to clients. Experience working with luxury-oriented clients is a plus.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ideal candidates will have superb people skills, a dynamic personality, be a sophisticated conversationalist, confident, empathetic, and friendly. Candidates should have the ability to clearly and effectively correspond with suppliers overseas where English is likely not their first language. Foreign language skills are a plus.
• Organizational Skills: The candidate must be highly organized, able to multi-task, and support multiple proposals at the same time, across several destinations.
• Detail Orientation: Attention to detail is critical. Unwavering accuracy, excellent and systematic organizational skills, and flawless attention to detail is necessary.
• Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be willing to lend a hand with any urgent task that may arise. A willingness to be involved in every aspect of the trip development process is important. A positive attitude is essential and a key to be successful in the position.
• Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and common Internet browsers and applications. A background using QuickBase, other databases, or CRM software is a plus.
