Details: NBC Universal is now hiring an Director Communications/PR, Oxygen for our Burbank, CA location.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Communications will be responsible for generating maximum, positive press for Oxygen programming. This position based in Burbank, CA will report to the VP of Communications based in New York, NY.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Report directly to VP of communications on developing network PR campaigns and programming strategies
•Generate publicity for Oxygen programming and channel branding in consumer, business and trade press via strategically pitched trend stories, executive/talent interviews and creatively written press releases
•Active outreach to trade press to service the network’s daily and weekly ratings news and programming announcements
•Communications support for all digital and integrated sales and brand marketing initiatives
•Act as media strategist, campaign planner and spokesperson for assigned shows
•Develop positive relationships with talent, producers, PR agencies and representatives, agents, managers, production staffs, media and programming executives in order to ensure maximum coverage
•Identify, book and cover executives on key panels/conventions
•Activities will include program strategy development, business stories, planning and execution of title campaigns encompassing all print, broadcast and online activities, special events, research and radio promotions
•Create and supervise electronic press kits, special clip reels, satellite media tours, press junkets, print interviews, on-set visits, photo shoots and broadcast and production related activities for the network
•Generate all press materials including releases, bios, captions, feature stories, talking points, story synopsis, pitch letters and correspondence
•Service daily media requests and act as network source of information on programs
•Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news, and interface with other departments and entertainment cable channels on an as needed basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor's Degree
•Minimum 7 years of TV publicity experience

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

•Must be willing to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
•Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA
•Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation
•Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
•Must be 18 years or older
•Must accept Solutions, NBCUniversal's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

•Self starter and able to work in an extremely fast paced and high volume environment
•Experience in unscripted series and running a series campaign from inception to completion
•Experience pitching, booking and covering national and local media interviews necessary
•Have consumer and trade press contacts
•Have contacts and experience in marketing and digital for cross-over opportunities with advertisers and clients
•Exhibit strong interpersonal, writing, pitching, and presentation skills
•Able to work both independently and with a team
•Able to juggle and meet numerous deadlines and identify press opportunities
•Proactive, master multi-tasker, creative and strategic thinking plus strong external and team communication skills
•Proven skills in launching shows, crisis management and interfacing with all levels of executives, talent and media
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Superior organization and innovative thinking
•Flexible work schedule with some late nights and weekend work requited to cover tapings, shoots and travel as needed
