Located in Woodland Hills, CA, Music Reports is the leading provider of music rights administration services in the United States. Music Reports offers a full spectrum of music administration services to clients including strategic consulting, copyright research, licensing, and royalty reporting. The company's clients include the world's most successful broadcasters, record labels, digital music services, wireless carriers, and consumer products companies.
The Music Licensing Coordinator is primarily responsible for obtaining music clearances and securing music licenses for Music Reports' clients, as well as preparing and maintaining reports that track the negotiation status of each project.
Tasks:
- Research, clear, and license music for digital service providers, mobile applications, on-air performances, and consumer products
- Negotiate music licenses with publishers, record labels, law firms, and management companies, including reduced rate and blanket license requests
- Manage licensing projects of varying scope (from individual song requests to high-volume catalog licensing), rights types, and royalty structures
- Coordinate with artist managers and label reps to secure publishing and recording metadata
- Field day-to-day inquiries as to license terms, status, etc.
- Maintain and deliver regular and detailed project status reports to department staff and clients
- Coordinate with Royalty Services, Copyright Research, and IT departments as needed to facilitate licensing projects
- Enter individual license and royalty terms in company database system
- Update company database of music copyright and related information
Qualifications:
- Experience in the field of music clearance and licensing, including mechanical and synch licensing, and licensing for new media rights including SVOD, public performance rights, etc.
- Pre-existing relationships with music publishers, artist management, record labels, and entertainment law firms
- Familiarity with domestic and international performing rights societies and neighboring rights
- Knowledge of public domain guidelines
- Ability to organize and manage high-volume projects and effectively communicate the status of same to clients and supervisors
- Ability to handle multiple projects and adjust to changing priorities
- Internet research and general computer skills (including proficiency with Excel)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented work ethic
