Sr. Financial Analyst
Description
A major entertainment company in Los Angeles is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst. In this role, you would perform monthly financial statement reporting, prepare month-end general ledger close journal entries, support reconciliations using PeopleSoft, and handle other financial schedules and analysis as needed
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in monthly close process by reviewing general ledger detail, working with department heads and managers, preparing journal entries and explaining variances to plan and projection
• Assist department in preparing balance sheet reconciliation on a monthly and quarterly basis
• Supervise accounts payable by approving invoices and verifying coding to ensure accuracy
• Prepare monthly reporting package to submit to Corporate
• Ensure compliance with the Company's established internal controls
• Assist in performing ad-hoc analysis and preparing materials for management and board meetings
• Assist in identifying process improvements for purposes of increasing efficiency of accounting and finance procedures
• Assist with internal audits, maintain appropriate documentation to ensure SOX compliance
• Support monthly P&L forecast and close by recapping actual results versus plan and preparing variance analyses for business owners; analyze current and past trends in various metrics including revenue, gross margin and operating expense
• Create financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
• Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
• Support annual budget and monthly forecast processes, incorporating actual results, current trends, and future strategies
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• CPA a plus
• 3-5 years in an analytic role in corporate finance, accounting, or management consulting (Big four firm experience is a plus)
• Strong Big four firm experience is a plus understanding of GAAP and financial controls is a must
• Strong knowledge of EXCEL is required
Strong computer skills, especially with Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (familiarity with PeopleSoft preferred)
• Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish and English preferred
• Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills required
• Strong inter-personal skills required
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and collaborate with staff at all organizational levels across various business units is required
• Must be a motivated self-starter; able to work independently
• Works well within a team
• Must have the ability to work well under pressure and with changing priorities
• Must be very organized and deadline driven with ability to prioritize
• Must be proactive with strong follow through skills
• Must have discretion with handling confidential or sensitive information
• Must have the ability to multi-task in order to oversee multiple projects at once
• Must be willing to roll up sleeves and dig into the details
• Must work overtime and weekends when needed
• CPA firm experience with auditing exposure a plus (CPA preferred)
