Job Description
Title: Audit and Collections Manager
Department: Audit and Collections
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Summary: Manage, coordinate, and oversee the planning and execution of the Plans' audit program, which consists of payroll and residual compliance audits and the billing and collection of amounts due based on audit findings.
Responsibilities:
· Planning, assigning, and directing work for the department
· Developing benchmarks for the measurement of department performance
· Monitoring department performance
· Managing the department to continually improve performance
· Developing, maintaining, and improving audit programs
· Developing, maintaining, and improving collection programs
· Reviewing audits from inception to completion
· Develop and continuously improve processes and procedures
· Analyzing audit settlement offers, making recommendations, and authorizing legal referrals.
· Act as a liaison with industry unions, AMPTP, and employers with regards to audit related questions and issues
· Preparation and overseeing reports and correspondence created for the Board of Directors for review at the Audit & Collections Committee
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a staff of 20 in the Audit & Collections Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and rewarding and disciplining employees.
QUALIFICATIONS: Hands on individual with excellent MS Office Skills. Ability to perform satisfactorily the responsibilities mentioned above. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skillsets, and abilities required. High degree of ethics, good judgment, and the ability to manage a large group of employees are essential. Strong proven track record of leadership in a management role is required. LICENSES: CPA Required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university with at least ten years of relevant experience and at least five years in a supervisory role.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, agreements, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from various sources including individuals, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and the boards of directors.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
