Mnet America, the largest Asian-American network in the US and the biggest pop culture network in Asia is seeking a lead writer for it's flagship, weekly talk show - Danny from LA (DFLA). The show (and network) currently airs in every major city across the US as well as online on Youtube and mnetamerica com.
DFLA focuses on news, industry commentary and celebrity guests in Asian Entertainment, focusing on korean pop music, k-dramas, k-film, and pop culture/entertainment from other Asian countries as well as local Asian American artists/news.
The Season is expected to run 20 episodes - weekly. Production is expected to commence in mid-April with a tentative air date of late April, with each episode shooting and airing consecutively weekly. The show has finished its second season and headed into it's third.
The show has had a change of direction from a skit heavy show to a more focused informative (yet humorous) talkie show with celebrity guests. Previous guests include the biggest names in kpop, films, and Youtube. Creatively, will need informative, insightful discussions and commentary, witty banter and jokes that exhibit a refreshing and expert/insider understanding of the industry. Show vibe is loosely reminiscent of a Chelsea Handler meets Howard Stern...
Having a knowledge of the Asian Entertainment space is a huge plus but not a prerequisite. However, the Lead Writer will be expected to research regularly and be aware of breaking news and trends in Asian Entertainment. Producer team will be able to assist with industry expertise.
Pay is competitive with strong potential for other show opportunities within multi-platform network. Prospective applicants will need to attend a one-time writers discussion and also provide writing samples.
