Position Summary:
This position is responsible for 3 key functions within the Network's Programming and Development department. (1) developing new programming (2) overseeing current productions (3) channel programming and scheduling.
Director of Programming & Development will report directly into Head of Programming.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the development of new concepts through internal review process up to actual production of pilots, series and specials. Work with both in-house programming and development team as well as outside producers to generate new show concepts and new talent, ensuring the new concepts are within Mnet's branding, programming strategy and budget.
• Manage show production from conception and development. Supervise production process throughout concept development, outlines, scripts, rough cuts, post-production and budget.
• Maintain knowledge of Asian entertainment trends and content, as well as other key trends within millennial audience. Identify and develop relationships with key outside producer and talent in generating new show ideas.
• Manage entire deal making process between talent and producers (e.g. outside production companies, individual producers, rights holders, etc) and legal and business affairs. Knowledge and negotiation experience in structuring deals related to production, acquisition, and talent deals are required.
• Manage network's cable channel programming and scheduling process, adhering to general strategy and principles laid out by network's executives.
Required Experience:
• 5~7 year experience required. Development or programming experience at television or digital (online) network - or - development or production experience at a production company are required.
• Strong working knowledge of TV production from writing to shooting to scripting to editing to post-production, including field experience.
• Knowledge of deal structures for production, acquisition and talent agreements.
• Knowledge of Asian entertainment (K-pop, K-drama, Anime/Manga, Asian films) is a plus but not required.
Education:
Bachelor degree from accredited colleges/universities is required
