Summary
The VP of Film will represent the company’s creative interests for theatrical projects in production & development. The VP is responsible for sourcing new projects, developing material and assisting in overseeing productions as well as constantly working to establish and maintain relationships with agents, managers, producers, directors and writers.
Responsibilities
• Source potential projects for feature development
• Assist in the management and development of projects
• Attend and participate in creative meetings & coordinate and follow up on resulting ideas and projects
• Attend screenings as a representative of the company and take specific script notes
• Review and respond to creative script submissions
• Maintain & compile lists of writers, directors, and actors, formulate ideas and locate and nurture new talent
• Identify fresh and compelling characters, captivating stories and superb storytelling
• Leader in creative concepts and direction, talent development as well writers, directors & producers
• Represent Miramax production concerns on all assigned projects
• Works closely with SVP, creative executives and business affairs and other in-house departments to keep Theatrical development and production information flowing smoothly
• Ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 5 years proven development experience
• Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and writing about scripts and edited film material
• Significant experience in managing relationships within the creative community
• Produced content that arose due to significant involvement of candidate during development process
• Ability to build effective relationships with the senior leadership teams and partner with teams outside functional areas to foster effective and proactive collaboration to further the business
