Summary
The Revenue Manager will be responsible for all of the revenue function of the company, under the direction of the Sr. Manager. This role will have responsibilities over revenue recognition, general accounting, and month end close. This individual will work closely with the Sr. Manager to track and analyze contracts for proper revenue recognition.
Responsibilities
• Review deal memos/agreements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and SOP 00-2
• Provide accounting guidance to Sales and Finance on Revenue recognition
• Work with Sr. Manager to prepare accounting memos as it relates to the different financing structures
• Prepare/Review revenue adjustments, journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data and accounts
• Perform Cash and GAAP revenue reporting and by-title and by-market reporting
• Prepare quarterly roll forwards of Deferred Revenue and Accrued A/R
• Provide variance analysis of actuals to budget and actuals to prior period
• Prepare support for monthly close package and internal/external quarterly audit requests
• Strong understanding of the nature of international tax issues
• Manage financial close process for revenues to ensure revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and performing account analysis and reconciliation
• Lead GAAP revenue forecasting process for tax and other purposes
• Support International Distributor audits by providing agreements and statements to external audit team, monitoring status of ongoing audits, identifying audit issues and assist in their resolution
• Work with IT to automate the manual processes while maintaining the integrity of data
• Assist the Sr. Manager in special projects
• Ad hoc analysis as required
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; MBA and/or CPA required
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex contracts in financial terms
• 5 years of experience, theatrical and television distribution
• 5 years of experience in revenue management
• Strong understanding of SOP 00-2, ASC 606 GAAP/IFRS
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines
• Excellent excel and analytical skills
• Systems experience, including ideally experience with rights management systems, Filmtrack and SAP
• Proactive approach to work, attention to detail, initiative and enthusiasm
• Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and consistently meet tight deadlines, work efficiently with a sense of urgency, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
