Position Title: Legal Analyst
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Reporting To: Executive Director, Rights Management
Summary
The Rights Management group supports the Miramax global distribution efforts in order to monetize the library and new content endeavors. This role will support the Executive Director, Rights Management in all efforts to provide timely support to our distribution team and sales partners. The day-to-day duties will include responding to daily requests, while simultaneously working on long-term rights projects. Prior experience with entertainment content and media rights will be necessary.
Responsibilities
• Analyze contracts to confirm rights/territories/languages/channels
• Work with internal and external parties to resolve rights conflicts
• Support TV/Digital distribution by confirming sales do not conflict with historical output deals (W&R)
• Review and enter ancillary sales contracts into Rights database
• Support pre-sale distribution licenses of new TV and film development, production and sales: calendar key dates and transfer contract information into FilmTrack Avails and BizAffairs module
• Update data and product information in Rights database
• Address in professional and timely manner, ad hoc requests from other departments related to acquired rights and historical sales
• Responsible for assessing time needed to complete projects and provide status to team
• Special projects as needed
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal, or related
• J.D. Law degree or paralegal certificate desirable
• 2-3 years' experience with Intellectual Property, W&R within Film/TV Industry
• Familiarity with Rights Management databases, FilmTrack highly desired
• Strong analytical skills, with an ability to review and interpret contracts
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail is essential
• Comfortable multi-tasking and able to re-prioritize as needed to meet objectives
• Self-starter who is comfortable in an evolving, entrepreneurial organization
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Proficiency with Excel especially and MS Office
• Must be comfortable navigating rights management database independently
