Schedule
• Available: September 2017
• Duration of Internship: 1 Semester or 2 Quarters
• Days & Hours: Flexible: Monday – Friday 9 am to 6 pm (20-29 hours per week)
Summary
The Business & Legal Affairs department is responsible for legal matters as they relate to the Miramax business. The Legal intern will assist with legal research and drafting in connection with the preparation and negotiation of agreements for television and feature film content, the licensing of film clips, the analysis of chain of title and other film rights research, and other projects at the direction of the legal team.
Responsibilities
• Draft Deal Term memos summarizing pertinent points negotiated in above-the-line talent agreements for television and film projects
• Assist with drafting, negotiating and redlining various agreements including Certificates of Authorship, Certificates of Results and Proceeds
• Assist in creating Miramax forms and templates across various talent deal structures
• Research and summarize relevant guild provisions
• Assist in creating/maintaining status reports and charts tracking various rights and options across departments
• Assist in copyright research, filing, and maintenance
• Assist in reviewing and inputting all production/development agreements into FilmTrack
• Assisting with the MPAA title registration process – drafting correspondence to the MPAA and title representatives at other major studios, analyzing daily reports, and maintaining relevant records related to the title registration process
Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled in school pursuing a JD
• Must be a law student with excellent academic credentials
• Strong organizational skills and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic
• Great communication and time management
• Must be detail-oriented and able to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook with some Internet and research skills
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment at a growing film distribution company
