Job Purpose
Mills Entertainment is seeking a Sound Designer for an upcoming family oriented musical theatre tour that will be in tech from September 25th through October 4th, 2017, and tours through spring 2018.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Building cues in QLab - cues from provided material as well as newly created materials
• Direct the touring A1 when programming the console
• Designing monitor placement on stage, in collaboration with scenic moves
• Participate in pre-production conference calls
• Create and provide cue lists, mic placement charts, etc, to touring A1
• Deliver assets by deadlines set by Producing team
• Participate in the full tech period, September 25th - October 4th, 2017
• Available to start pre-production work on or around July 20th, 2017.
• Respond to rehearsal and show reports if and when necessary
Required Qualifications:
• Must have experience designing for musical theatre
• Must be familiar with the Yamaha QL1 console
• Must be proficient with Shure wireless microphone systems and coordinating RF
• Must be familiar with a number of PA systems
• Must have a good understanding of acoustics
• Must be proficient with MacBook Pro laptops
• Must be proficient with QLab 3
• Must have experience setting up and programming MIDI
• Must be self-motivated and have strong leadership skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an outgoing, positive dynamic personality to engage partners and team members
• The ability to work conceptually
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
• Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have experience working with family oriented productions and/or with children
• Based in New York is preferable
Competitive rates. Per-diem, housing, and flights are provided for during technical rehearsals. Tech period will take place in the New England area. Rehearsals will take place in NYC.
