SUMMARY
The Artist Manager works on behalf of the company's artists to promote the artists' careers and run their business affairs, including securing the best work for artists, for the best fee.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE;
1. Negotiating contracts and fees
2. Finding and booking events and venues that match the artist's career strategy and/or coordinating with artists' booking agent
3. Publicity and promotion
4. Helping artists on career decisions such as which record producer to work with, or which songs to perform
5. Managing media relations on artists' behalf
6. Any other responsibilities delegated by management team
COMPETENCIES
1. Ability to handle intense and stressful situations and availability to work after hours and on weekends when artist is traveling
2. Able to easily cultivate relationships with music industry decision makers and build strong interpersonal relationships with potential artists
3. Demonstrated ability to multitask/work under pressure/juggle conflicting priorities and deadlines
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must have high school degree
2. Minimum 2-3 years' prior artist management experience, including dealing with agents, promoters and record label staff
3. Existing book of music industry contacts
4. Strong knowledge of the music business and current trends
5. Good judgment
6. Strong desire and passion to manage artists
7. Existing clients and/or potential clients
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasional lifting. Must be able to lift 25 pounds
