Full Time Unpaid Internship
Brief Description the Position:
Overview of the Internship:The HEAT Group Publication’s Intern’s main job function is to assist the Manager of Publications & Communications with a number of daily tasks including proof reading, writing and fact-checking among others. They include the following:
• Proofread TIPOFF magazine on a daily basis including feature stories, player/game statistics and images.
• edit text to ensure it is well written and logically structured
• correct grammar and spelling
• ensure the text is in line with HEAT guidelines
• fact-check and raise queries with the author
• look out for potential problems
• ensure illustrations/photos and captions are correct
• Provide writing and editing support, including research, drafting, data analysis and fact-checking for Miami HEAT publications.
• Proofread feature stories, etc. for the department.
• Pitch (and write) stories for TIPOFF magazine.
• Track and log TIPOFF magazine.
• Assist in the creation and editing of the Miami HEAT Yearbook.
• Complete assigned tasks timely and accurately.
High standard of written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize own work effectively, prioritizing competing workloads and working to tight timescales. Competent using Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and content management systems.Strong team player.Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to respond appropriately to unexpected challenges and shifting priorities.Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to conduct basic online research.
