Based in Los Angeles, with locations in Vancouver, London, Sydney, Pune, Melbourne, Detroit, Chicago and New York, Method Studios is a leading post production facility providing a full range of visual effects services. As an artist-driven company, Method is built around an exceptional team of VFX professionals who have create award winning visual effects for Feature Film, Commercials, and Music Videos.
Background:
1-2 years experience configuring and/or maintaining a network of servers (render farms, clusters)
Primary Duties:
. developing internal tools, administrative UI's, and scripts . extending a software distribution system (based on rdist) . administering Servers (cross-platform): NFS, FTP, Web, DNS . building new Linux and Mac OSX workstations and render servers and integrating them into the network . installing, configuring, and distributing commercial software . installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC hardware
Required Skills:
. RedHat Linux, Python, shell scripting (bash/tcsh) . good communication and problem-solving skills . must be able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally.
Additional Useful Skills:
. experience installing and maintaining Mac OSX . render farm management, queuing software . HTML, Apache, SSL . knowledge of 2D and 3D computer graphics apps (Nuke, Maya, RenderMan) . knowledge of desktop environment customization . C/C programming . familiarity with tape devices on Unix, and scripting tape creation . work experience at a visual effects company . SQL databases (especially MySQL)
