Full-time or Part-time Junior Systems Administrator position at a visual effects company

Background:
1-2 years experience configuring and/or maintaining a network of servers (render farms, clusters)

Primary Duties:
• developing internal tools, administrative UI's, and scripts . extending a software distribution system (based on rdist) . administering Servers (cross-platform): NFS, FTP, Web, DNS . building new Linux and Mac OSX workstations and render servers and integrating them into the network . installing, configuring, and distributing commercial software . installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC hardware

Required Skills:
• RedHat Linux, Python, shell scripting (bash/tcsh) . good communication and problem-solving skills . must be able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally

Additional Useful Skills:
• experience installing and maintaining Mac OSX . render farm management, queuing software . HTML, Apache, SSL . knowledge of 2D and 3D computer graphics apps (Nuke, Maya, RenderMan) . knowledge of desktop environment customization
• C/C++ programming . familiarity with tape devices on Unix, and scripting tape creation .work experience at a visual effects company . SQL databases (especially MySQL)
