Description
Method Studios New York is currently in search of an experienced Nuke Compositing Supervisor to join and lead its team of compositors and 2D artists.
The primary focus of this position is in the integration of CG elements and matte paintings into live action plates.
Responsibilities and Duties
• responsible for the management of the compositing team, the quality of the compositing work, and the overview of colour continuity on a given show
Comp Supervisor Skills
• utilizing creative and aesthetic senses
• managing a team of artists both on a technical and an aesthetic point of view
• anticipating comp and team problems
• setting up a show (color pipeline, representations, deliverables)
• presenting work clearly in dailies and walkthroughs and responding to supervisor in a timely fashion
• evaluating artists' skills and what attributes they need to improve
Comp Senior Artist Skills
• matching color, lighting, and exposure of stock elements to rendered or photographed elements
• matte extractions from blue/green screen photography
• executing Paint fixes and rotoscoping
• clean and efficient script organization. Minimum number of nodes to get a result.
• transforming and warping elements as needed
• utilizing concepts in:
• 2D/3D camera tracking and stabilization concepts
• 3D in Nuke
• grain and degrain as necessary
• plate speed up/slow down manipulation
• matte edge processing and integration
• QC black levels, grain, color, mattes, etc.
Qualifications
• expert knowledge of Nuke, with minimum 3 years of node-based compositing software experience
• minimum 3 years Comp Supervisor experience in Feature Film
• experience with Keylight, Primatte or Ultimatte
• knowledge of projection mapping
• Maya knowledge, a plus
• sound aesthetic with good understanding of color, contrast, and lighting design
• knowledge of film resolution and aspect ratios
• strong problem-solving skills
• strong interpersonal and communication skills
• team leader player with outstanding attitude
• dependable, flexible, and able to take direction well from VFX Supervisor
• exercises close attention to detail
