Full Time Unpaid Internship
Position Purpose
The HR Intern will support the Human Resources staff by providing assistance in the areas of recruitment and staffing, personnel records, employee relations, benefits, compensation and training
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform administrative functions to support the recruitment process including posting job openings; file resumes/applications; process and prepare background checks, offer letters, etc.;
• Prepare and present new hire orientation documents and materials along with keeping all materials current;
• Act as backup receptionist on a daily basis;
• Submit all required documents for timely set up of pay and benefits for new employees;
• Key and submit for processing any payroll changes, additions or corrections;
• Assist in answering employee questions or processing request regarding payroll and benefits;
• Accurately complete and file required employment documents;
• Types, proofreads, and distributes memos, documents and correspondence for department related issues; performs clerical/support functions such as filing, faxing and copying/collating in order to maintain department effectiveness;
• Assist the department by performing data gathering, review and research on special project as needed;
• Maintain and audit all personnel, benefit and recruitment files, spreadsheets and databases as required;
• Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
, Experience & Abilities
Essential:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field;
• Knowledge of human resource programs, laws and administration;
• Must have excellent typing and data entry skills coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner;
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and proofreading;
• Ability to work independently in a highly confidential and professional fashion;
• Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks and work within a team environment;
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail;
• Must be dependable and able to work additional hours during peak periods;
• Positive, friendly, outgoing attitude, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
