Media Services, a fast paced Entertainment Payroll Company, seeks a full-time Payroll Supervisor for our TV/Feature Department in our Los Angeles office. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience as a payroll specialist or senior payroll processor and 1 year supervisory experience. Must possess strong customer service skills, be detail oriented and willing to work as part of a team. Entertainment industry experience is strongly preferred.
Position Summary: The Payroll Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to payroll staff. Under the general direction of the Payroll Director, this position manages and oversees the Company's production payroll processes, serves as a resource for staff and clients, and is responsible for managing the processing of medium complexity payrolls for multiple clients in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. As necessary, this position reviews union and non-union payroll and serves as a Paymaster for clients and payroll staff. The Payroll Supervisor is also responsible for resolving questions and concerns from clients.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Supervises and manages payroll staff including payroll coordinators, office support, and other office employees
2. Excellent, detailed knowledge of union and non-union payroll processes
3. Ability to accurately break and calculate payroll and perform quality control review of payroll to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and/or union contracts.
4. Strong knowledge of different classes of corporations and the Company procedures for each.
5. Strong knowledge of reverse and offset adjustments.
6. Strong knowledge of workers compensation and other various labor and employment laws.
7. Strong knowledge of pension rates and proper calculations.
8. Excellent knowledge of Tax Deduction programs.
9. Strong knowledge of the concept of ''mixed crews'' and enforces rules accordingly.
10. Strong knowledge of Chart of Accounts and how they pertain to the processing of payroll .
11. Performs daily documentation of client communications
12. Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Payroll Director and Company Management
Required Skills:
1. Excellent attention to detail.
2. Excellent verbal communications skills with the ability to establish positive client relationships.
3. Strong external and internal client service skills: written, oral, strong listening skills. Follows up and follows through with clients and staff.
4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
5. Ability to work in a constantly changing environment to achieve the department and Company goals.
6. Ability to interact positively with clients, staff and external departments.
