The candidate will oversee the development of original content, and the subsequent project management, for Marvel's digital platforms. They will be tasked with building and supervising a team that cultivates a slate of content that aligns with the overarching editorial vision and tone, is consistent across all platforms, and is suited for any number of potential sponsorship and distribution outlets, including Marvel's proprietary platforms, all key social media platforms and/or SVOD, TVOD, AVOD plays.
Responsibilities
This New York-based candidate must be exceptionally organized, as well as a creative and effective storyteller. A person who knows how to utilize all combinations of video, graphics, and text, and must have a keen understanding of how content is packaged/sold, how it resonates differently across platforms, devises, and social channels in order to drive scale and revenue.
Collaboration is a key component to this role as this senior leader, and his/her team, will work extensively with the sales, distribution, platform, marketing, product, and audience development teams. In many instances, being the main point of contact for each, and acting as a communication and facilitation bridge between all groups in order to meet growth targets. Further, this person, and their team, will be responsible for developing and managing content that is produced both in-house, and out-of-house to fill a slate of content for Marvel's own platforms, as well as content/packages sold to sponsors, advertisers and promotional partners.
The candidate must have the ability to meet and adapt to internal priorities as well as industry trends/demands, and be flexible and able to balance multiple projects/priorities. Strong management and interpersonal skills are crucial, as this person, and their subsequent team, will be managing a diverse group of internal group priorities as well as external production companies.
This is a dynamic person who is passionate and excited about the future of Marvel and wants to take a major role in leading and shaping it.
Candidate will report directly the VP, Head of Platforms & Content New/Media
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 10-years as a high-level producer/packager of video programming – preferably for an entertainment related brand.
Proven ability to build, manage, and lead a team.
The ability to work with a team to take a video project from the kernel of an idea to a finished product (whether scripted or unscripted) – while overseeing all financial, technical and logistical aspects of the production.
A strong grounding and appreciation for platform agnostic content development, packaging, sponsorship, and monetization.
An instinct for a story's lifecycle across multiple digital platforms.
Keen insight into the world of social media and what video means in that space.
The dexterity and demeanor to work with other people and teams of people both inside and outside of the company to accomplish the goals set forth.
Mature, interpersonal skills with an openness to objective, constructive criticism.
