JOB TITLE: Executive Director of Digital Distribution, MarVista Digital Entertainment
JOB DESCRIPTION:
MarVista Digital Entertainment (MVDE) is the digital distribution division of MarVista Entertainment - a fast-growing, full-service independent entertainment studio with a mission to produce, acquire, and distribute premium film and television programming worldwide. The Executive Director of Digital Distribution for MVDE will collaborate with all key internal stakeholders to guide content from acquisition or production to digital launch. The two main responsibilities of the role are 1) be a key leader in the nurturing of new programming and identifying new distribution opportunities or strategic partnerships, and 2) ensure that we maintain the right quantity and quality of content for our digital distribution clients as part of our regular slate. As a leader of the MVDE business unit, you will collaborate with colleagues from Marketing, Sales, Programming, Production, and Finance, Operations, and others.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify New Distribution Opportunities and New Digital Content Creation Opportunities
• Identify and develop new distribution opportunities so as to more effectively monetize content and scale the digital distribution business
• Source opportunities and collaborate with production team to develop original content for digital distribution
• Evangelize the MVDE brand widely in the marketplace so as to achieve visibility and open doors to opportunities across Multi-Channel Networks (MCN), AVOD services, global distributors, etc.
• Develop and create new programming opportunities across genres for the MVDE audience
• Identify possible content partnerships with branded product lines, so as to leverage existing and global MVDE strengths
• Evaluate direct-to-consumer distribution opportunities and define innovative release strategies
Manage and Optimize Existing Digital Distribution Footprint and Content Pipeline
• Collaborate with internal MVDE Creative team to capitalize on client opportunities which may include exclusives, originals, etc.
• Understand the theatrical landscape so as to best create plans for content releases in the marketplace
• Keep pulse on industry trends related to digital programming and production
• Coordinate with outside vendors and partners to ensure that initiatives are well-defined and executed on time and within expectations
Manage and Improve Monetization of MarVista Digital Entertainment
• Manage P&L for a high-growth division with ambitious growth targets
• Utilize research to drive programming initiatives and decision making to drive audience engagement
• Effectively tackles and manages project plans based on priorities.
• Gather requirements in order to define a product vision and strategy.
• Establish, measure, and achieve key performance metrics with the digital leadership team.
• Direct the work of a small team effectively. Creates a positive learning environment, sets measurable objectives, and deploys resources as appropriate to accomplish tasks on time.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree in a business related field, MBA Preferred
• At least 10 years of experience of in-depth product management for digital video content; completely proficient in the digital space of the Entertainment Industry
• At least 5 years of experience with digital content programming and licensing
• Expertise in understanding the intersection between linear and non-linear programming
• Strong understanding of the various technology and digital platforms currently available for digital content distribution
• Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience developing Internet products and technologies
• Familiarity with business issues such as budgeting, annual planning, etc.
• Experience integrating programming and product requirements into media platforms.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities
• Demonstrated keen judgment to make solid business decisions founded on market research
• Very strong data analysis skills, including multivariate testing theory and competitive analysis
