Intern with Andy Engel, the Director of New Talent at Gotham Comedy Club and Founder/Owner of the Manhattan Comedy School.
Andy Engel has been producing shows in New York City since 1993. Thanks to Andy's reputation, dedication, and professional standards, his New Talent nights have become the premier show for discovering and developing fresh comedic talent. Headliners who have appeared on his shows include Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Lewis Black, Sherri Shepherd, Ray Romano, Joy Behar, Dave Attell, and many more.
Andy is also the founder and owner of Manhattan Comedy School, whose faculty members are all active, successful headliners with thriving careers and credits including Letterman, HBO and Comedy Central.
Also, Andy is the Director of New Talent at Gotham Comedy Club and Levity Live, which is considered by many people in the industry to be the best clubs in New York. He is also an Associate Producer for David Brenner's ''What's So Funny?'' and a Talent Coordinator for AXSTV's ''Gotham Comedy Live.'' Comedy Central has produced the show Live At Gotham for several years at the club. Gotham has also been featured in NBC's Last Comic Standing and on Celebrity Apprentice. Currently Ryan Seacrest and Mark Cuban's AXSTV is producing a show at Gotham, ''Gotham Comedy Live.''
I am looking for interns for the Spring/Summer to start as soon as their schedule allows. Although this would be a non-paid position, there will be many generous and valuable benefits and perks, in addition to it being an incredible learning experience. This internship is perfect for anybody who is interested in comedy, entertainment and/or production.
*If you're more interested in the business/sales aspect of the industry I also have positions for business interns who are business savvy and sales driven.
I am looking for someone who can commit anywhere from 20-30 hours a week. (If I choose you to be my intern, we'll make sure to create a schedule that works best for you). The internship is extremely hands-on. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, organized, a fast typer, and computer savvy. You may be able to work from home.
There is data entry involved, but much of your time will be spent helping with producing and promoting comedy shows at Gotham, booking comedians for those shows, and running and marketing the Manhattan Comedy School.
