VP of Finance, Production Accounting
Growing Sports-centric Production Company is seeking an experienced and versatile Finance Manager with a strong background in BOTH Finance/Accounting as well as Production Accounting. In this role, you will wear two hats: head of Company Finance/Accounting - overseeing the preparation of GAAP financial statements, forecasting and projecting, and administrating company day to day; and head of Production Finance/Accounting - overseeing budgeting, financial controlling, and production accounting on a slate of scripted, unscripted, documentary and digital projects.
The VP of Finance, Production Accounting will work directly with the Board of Directors of the company to design and implement the infrastructure and systems needed for the future of the company. S/he will be responsible for the monitoring of corporate systems including: finance, accounting, human resources, communications, and physical infrastructure. S/he will also oversee the slate of projects and liaise directly with networks on all reporting and day to day communications.
Job responsibilities include:
Operations
Payroll & Payroll Admin
Asset purchases and allocations (Edit Systems, Camera, Equipment)
Health Insurance Admin
Insurance Admin (General Liab, D&O, E&O, Umbrella, Key Man)
Finance
Day to Day AP/AR/PC
Projections/Forecasts
Reporting and compliance
Oversee GAAP audit of books on a yearly basis
Oversee preparation of yearly tax returns
Production Finance/Production Accounting
Company, Payroll, Policies & Procedures for each show
Hire and oversee Accounting Teams
Apply for and handle all aspects of Film Incentives
Approve and handle all Long Form Deal Memos
Prepare Start packets
Review budget and weekly Cost Report Meetings during production
Work in cooperation with the shows' Line Producer during pre-production to make deals with key crew/locations/vendors/etc.
Work with Post-Sup to assure on-budget delivery
Line Production/Production Accounting
Oversee budgeting of all Documentary, Unscripted Programming and Digital Series
Handle all aspects of Production Accounting on shows
Cost Reporting to Networks
Create and Manage Releases, Contracts, etc.
Vendor Deals
Acquire and Manage Production insurance on all shows
Oversee network contracts
Business Affairs
Negotiate and review with outside counsel on contracts
Create and Manage Production Service Agreements
Create and Manage Work For Hire deals with consultants
Qualifications:
Minimum 5-10 years of Entertainment Industry Production Finance/Accounting experience
Bachelor's Degree
CPA Preferred
Robust knowledge of accounting processes and procedures.
Knowledge of financial statements and cash flow analysis
Ability to read and interpret complex contracts in financial terms.
Ability to Budget Documentaries, Unscripted Series, Digital Content on Movie Magic Budgeting
Self-motivated and able to follow through on assigned responsibilities as well as be able to think ahead and utilize problem-solving abilities
Most Importantly, must be ready to roll up your sleeves in a fast growing company and wear several hats.
