Full Time Unpaid Internship
Maker Studios is seeking an innovative and highly motivated leader to drive and execute our content programming strategy for Football content category. This individual will create and maintain a consistent brand and voice for the assigned category across all touch points. The General Manager will articulate and execute strategic programming plans. The General Manager will lead the Programming team to execute against a cohesive programming strategy across the content category in order to meet a set of content programming and business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set and oversee business objectives, content voice, and overall programming strategy for verticals within the General Manager's business unit
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for verticals in conjunction with the Chief Content Officer, and be responsible for hitting goals in collaboration with verticalized staff in other departments
- Decide content priorities for the business unit - informed by sales potential and market research, in partnership with stakeholders across departments - with an initial focus on vertical launch/re-launch strategies, timelines for emerging verticals, Disney integration strategies, and budget allocation between in-house productions and external content partnerships
- Program content mix for all platforms where our verticals have a presence, including Maker TV, owned and operated YouTube channels, Talent-owned YouTube channels, O&O social channels, Maker-branded apps, OTT and set top boxes, syndication/licensing partner channels, etc.
- Manage a core set of Programming Directors, one per vertical, who are deeply involved in the day-to-day needs of the verticals
- Lead cross-functional business unit meetings with representatives from other areas of the company - each working in lockstep to accomplish the goals/vision set by the General Manager; cross-functional areas include Sales Packaging, Marketing, Acquisitions and Talent Management, Business Development, Studios, Legal, etc.
- Act as - network head? for the business unit; assuming green light power and final approval on all content that lives on the verticals, including branded entertainment and licensed content (and excluding some 3rd party content deals, Disney integrations, and other TBD situations)
- Work closely with Sales Packaging to devise and execute effective - go to market? strategies with robust sales packages around all content initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of prior hands-on branded entertainment, programming, and business strategy experience in media with a focus on digital or video
- Track record of successfully developing, packaging, and producing content for major advertising partners
- 4 year college degree; Masters level or higher preferred
- Ability to lead in a matrixed environment
- Strong management and communication skills
- Strong financial measurement and business acumen
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing market conditions and workload
- Thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a high-intensity environment, long hours and meeting tight deadlines
- Reads widely, creative, resourceful, team player, excellent interpersonal skills
