Maker Studios is seeking a strong leader to establish and maintain the content programming strategy for our family vertical, Kids and Science Education. Working with the General Manager, this lead will establish and develop the vertical’s slate of content while tracking content performance. This person will keep abreast of the competitive trends within the industry. Working across matrix teams including Production, Development, Marketing, and Sales, this leader will represent Maker Family in all areas of content programming and content development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and maintain the Maker Kids and Science Education brand identity, oversee Kids and Science Education programming across the Maker network, and secure/execute strategic category partnerships according to business objectives and KPI’s as directed by the General Manager.
• Work closely with General Manager to develop programming strategy across digital platforms, including a blend of licensed content, original production, content integrations, and 3rd party partner programs.
• Lead the development of branded entertainment opportunities in conjunction with the Sales Packaging team, including “built if sold” concepts, event activations, brand integrations across the network, custom solutions, etc.
• Build content schedule and editorial calendar that captures the highly relevant events, tentpoles, and trends that speak to our Kids and Science Education audience and advertising partners.
• Oversee audience development plan in conjunction with our Marketing and Network Partnership teams to maximize viewership across platforms (including windowing strategies) and hit audience KPI’s.
• Maintain high degree of knowledge of events, trends and competition in the Kids and Science Education world, and filter important info to General Manager.
• Drive research requests and interpret data to inform programming and partnership decisions in accordance with business objectives and KPI’s.
• Maintain high level of quality control across all content output to ensure brand consistency and adherence to programming objectives.
• Participate in industry and consumer facing events in assigned areas of content as needed.
• Track and report KPIs on the vertical on a regular basis, including booked revenue, partnership pipeline, viewership growth across platforms, and other TBD standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 3 years of prior hands-on programming, editorial, and business strategy experience in video with a focus on Kids, Science and Education content.
• 5 years experience preferred.
• Background includes working with a diverse portfolio of advertisers and agencies to develop marketing campaigns, integrated marketing strategies, and/or branded entertainment programs.
• Successful track record of partnering with major kids/educational talent networks on digital or television platforms.
• 4 year college degree preferred.
• Ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
• Strong financial measurement and business acumen.
• Familiarity with media planning and emerging digital disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with other department members.
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing market conditions and workload.
• Flawlessly meticulous, detailed, highly accurate and extremely organized.
• Thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a high-intensity environment, long hours and meeting tight deadlines.
