Maker Studios is seeking a strong leader to join the content development team. Working with the Head of Development, this lead will support the department’s initiative to bolster its programming initiatives within Maker’s digital eco-system as well as traditional linear platforms such as TV/Film. This person will be tasked to bring in strong creative projects from established Hollywood creators as well as take successful Maker talent/IP into the traditional world. Understanding the competitive projects/trends within the industry is also a key facet to the job. A strong understanding of deal structures will also be necessary as all projects developed need to ultimately support the forward progress of the company’s business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships that help the department reach it’s overall goals defined by the Head of Development.
• Work closely with Head of Development to develop big programming initiatives across digital & traditional platforms.
• Maintain content slate/grid and editorial calendar capturing the highly relevant events, tent poles, and trends that speak to our audience and advertising partners.
• When necessary work in conjunction with the Sales Packaging team, including “built if sold” concepts, event activations, brand integrations across the network, custom solutions, etc.
• Maintain high degree of knowledge of events, trends and competition and filter important info to Head of Development.
• Drive research requests and interpret data to inform programming decisions in accordance with business objectives and KPI’s.
• Maintain high level of quality control across all development to ensure brand consistency and adherence to programming objectives.
• Participate in industry and consumer facing events in assigned areas of content as needed.
• Track and report KPIs for the department on a regular basis, including content pipeline, incoming pitches, and other TBD standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5 years of prior hands-on development, editorial, and business strategy experience in media with a focus in traditional or digital media.
• 4 year college degree preferred.
• Ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
• Strong understanding of traditional deal templates.
• Familiarity with tv/film/digital landscape.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with other department members.
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing market conditions and workload.
• Flawlessly meticulous, detailed, highly accurate and extremely organized.
• Thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a high-intensity environment, long hours and meeting tight deadlines.
• Reads widely, creative, resourceful, team player, excellent interpersonal skills.
