The Lead UX Designer is responsible for ensuring each UI/UX project meets or exceeds the high standards for visual design, conforms to ''best-practices'' for user experience concepts, prototyping, creating detailed design specifications to define and communicate interface concepts/requirements, and is consistent with the company's brand values. The role will also call for this individual to be able to stand behind, and conceive of, new and convention-breaking solutions.
The Lead UX Designer will work closely with several cross-functional teams including product management, visual design, development and marketing. They may also pair with other members of our UX team on large initiatives. This role is self-directed, has ability to mentor junior staff with clear communication techniques, and holds strong leadership qualities that evoke a positive and energetic team spirit that is highly collaborative.
This role must have strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate to senior staff. This person must have skills in presenting to large groups, selling good UX as a clear vision, and the ability to manage junior staff when additional work is needed on products. This role must create and maintain the Maker UX best practices and principles guide for all products that adheres to core maker brand principles. Takes end-to-end ownership of projects/products, and leads process and communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure project excellence.
Responsibilities
• Work with marketing, product management, R&D, and customer support to define and execute on the end-to-end customer experience at both the macro and micro interaction level.

• Infuse the culture with a design thinking mindset-a creative approach to solving business, product, and user problems.
• Communicate that great user and customer experiences are great business and great business leads to sales and profits.
• Drives multi-channel user experience strategy and innovation.
• Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
• Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.
• Provides User Experience for products by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
• Drives continuous improvement of user experience tools, documentation, and process.
• Drive the development and communication of design guidelines and patterns, with focus on providing a consistent and intuitive experience across all products.
• Provide design leadership to technical teams by fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, business and technology through on-going application reviews.
• Ability to manage the UX teams workload and prioritize all projects and tasks.
• Collaborate with team and show passion for creating top-notch interactive user experiences.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of user interactions and transform design requirements into intuitive interface.
• Translate UX briefs into annotated wireframes and final AI/PSD files.
• Develop and maintain wireframe & design mockups, usage scenarios, prototypes, specifications, navigation maps and other UX design documents.
• Hold expert-level knowledge of the interactive landscape, (both mobile and web based) competitors and complementary products.
• Define innovative user interfaces and interaction styles, which result in improved user engagement and session duration.
• Understanding and appreciation of A/B testing and its influence on design choices.
• Inspire yourself and the team around you to deliver our customers the best experience possible.
• Ability to create paper and clickable prototypes for usability testing.
• Lead, record & facilitate user testing.
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years of experience designing, user experiences and interaction design in gaming and/or mobile preferred.
• Strong knowledge of site design; mastery in principles of Web design (HTML5, CSS3).
• Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology.
• Knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices.
• Exceptional communication/presentation skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter who is comfortable with independently managing deadlines.
• Comfortable in a fast-pace environment.
