The MTV public affairs team is charged with using the networks’ superpowers for good. The team develops and manages multi-platform social change initiatives that empower the channels’ audiences to have an impact on the biggest challenges facing the nation.
MTV’s current anchor campaign is “Look Different,” helping America’s youth to better recognize and challenge hidden racial, gender and anti-LGBT biases; other campaigns include mtvU’s Peabody-winning “Half of Us,” which breaks down the stigma around mental health that prevents young people from seeking help, and the boundary-shattering “It’s Your (Sex) Life,” which has reached over 200 million young people on sexual health issues.
The public affairs team also supports all of MTV’s on-air and digital series when social issue themes arise, by advising on messaging; providing resources for the audience; and creating content and building partnerships to amplify prosocial messaging.
Working in partnership with senior channel leadership, colleagues in the MTV public affairs department and peers across MTV – including those from the programming, marketing, on-air promos, music and talent, online, social, research and press teams.
