Overview and Responsibilities
Digital Design Director will be responsible for creating brand-consistent,
on-strategy, compelling work for all assigned projects related to but not limited to the MTV site, MTV News, APP and other digital/social extensions. The Design Director will direct all phases of creative, from concept through production. Will be responsible for inspiring and motivating creative team, and accountable for developing and directing creative work of the highest caliber. This position reports to VP of Design, Brand Creative.
Responsibilities:
• Design user experiences for websites, mobile sites & apps, social media and maintain consistent brand design across all digital platforms.
• Create designs factoring in user scenarios and personas, competitive analyses, and analytics and test results and coordinate with Product team and offer feedback on UX and brand appropriate creative for sites
• Create Photoshop comps, update creative (web banners and marquees) and provide functional/design requirements
• Analyze the external marketplace, industry trends, customers and competitors to develop cutting-edge solutions that lead to improved experience
• Make recommendations based on current design trends and development technologies; push the business forward as the leader in the industry
• Lead and mentor assigned creative teams. Develop talent through feedback. Offer critical thinking to the creative process to ensure quality control.
• Work directly with producers and project managers to meet deadlines and on budget.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 3 – 7 years experience as an Art Director.
• Recognized expertise in one or more of the following: User Experience (UX) Design, digital promotion, graphic design and animation.
• Should be expert in digital software, specifically Adobe Creative Suite.
• Understanding of web coding and digital production techniques.
• At least 3 years of UX Art Direction experience. Visual layout and grid systems, User Experience and User Interface design, Color Correction abilities, Photography manipulation.
• Must have excellent presentation skills, capable of pitching and selling ideas to Sr. executives. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Additional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Graphic Design preferred.
• Strong creative thinker and problem solver.
• Excellent aesthetic judgment
• Ability to work in fast paced and constantly changing environment.
• Highly collaborative individual with a strong knowledge of current trends in design, fashion and pop culture.
