Overview and Responsibilities
MTVU is MTV’s award-winning college channel. Broadcast to more than 750 college campuses and via top cable distributors in 700 college communities nationwide, MTVU reaches nearly 9 million U.S. college students – making it the largest, most comprehensive television network just for college students. Available on flat-panel displays at no cost to schools, MTVU is seen in dining areas, fitness centers, student lounges and dorm rooms throughout the U.S. MTVU programs music videos from emerging artists that can’t be seen anywhere else, news, student life features and initiatives that give college students the tools to advance positive social change.
We are looking for a Account Manager to report to the Director of Distribution & Marketing.
• Secure a minimum of 10 new college/university accounts per year.
• Responsible for renewing a minimum of 10 current college/university accounts per year.
• Sell the MTVU channel and technology solutions to various departments at a college campus.
• Represent & promote the MTVU brand at conferences and on college campuses.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (Communications, Marketing or Journalism, preferred).
• 3-5 years of sales and customer service experience.
• Ability to work autonomously and hit the ground running.
• Ability and desire to travel nationwide 50% of time.
• Experience in creating presentations & marketing collateral.
• Experience as a vendor at conferences/trade shows.
Additional Qualifications
• Track record of success.
• Responsible for managing clients day to day.
• Develop accounts from existing business.
• Own, manage and develop relationships.
• Strong computer skills especially in Excel, Power Point and Word.
• Sharp communication & Interpersonal Skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Comfortable prospecting, negotiating contract terms and closing the deal.
• Experience in selling technology solutions or in the college market is a plus
• Must possess and demonstrate proven presentation and negotiation skills.
• Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable in presenting to high level University Executives, Mid-Level Executives as well as students
• Passion for technology.
