Loyola Marymount University's School of Film and Television (SFTV) has an opening for a Head of Production Administrator. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Operations and Business Services, the Head of Production Administrator is part of the senior staff leadership of the School. This position exercises comprehensive oversight of the SFTV Production Studio, and is responsible for safety training and risk management for all filmmaking and related activities. This position oversees a staff of technical engineers who work closely with instructors and students to achieve the curricular goals set by the faculty.
Additional responsibilities include: maintain and organize documentation related to personnel records and conduct annual performance evaluations; review and approve expense reports, and supervise, train and direct the work activities of a dozen or more Graduate Assistants. Responsible for budgeting and scheduling requests of faculty for teaching assistants and work-study students in the production areas as needed. Identify and recommend specific equipment purchases; coordinate requests to Information Technology Services on all Production Studio needs including labs and upgrades, and play a leading role in the School's continuing development of capital facility plans, particularly the anticipated construction of the SFTV Pavilion on campus and the possible expansion to Playa Vista.

We seek candidates who typically possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. M.F.A. is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge and skills. A minimum of seven (7) years of varied and progressively responsible duties in the entertainment industry, such as a track record as a First Assistant Director on working production sets. Additional experience in a university setting highly desirable. The ability to assist students in the development of professional attitudes and disciplines while performing work on class projects and assignments. Candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of the entertainment industry, and practical experience in all aspects of the production process and the operation and maintenance of technical components, cameras, lights, sound recording and grip equipment. Knowledge of film production safety protocols and risk management. The ability to exercise independent judgment in office administration, analyze data and compile reports for executive decisions is required along with the ability to interact well with all levels of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of production software systems, knowledge of both Mac and PC operating platforms in a media environment, TV, and film studio operations.
