Loyola Marymount University has an opening for a Director of Industry Relations and Engagement in the School of Film & Television (SFTV). This position will report to the Dean and in collaboration with other LMU constituencies, will lead the external engagement strategy for SFTV. This position will advise on messaging and positioning, while cultivating relationships with industry, entertainment publicists and media to build SFTV awareness and reputation by promoting LMU SFTV locally and nationally.
Additional responsibilities include: work with Deans and industry influencers to successfully elevate school's position in the industry, strengthening SFTV's reputation and significantly driving student enrollment; serve as key member of The Hollywood Masters, LMU's interview series filmed on campus for national distribution; support key sponsorships and partnerships with national film festivals and cultural organizations, booking faculty as panelists and promoting student work to global film festival audiences; effectively represent LMU and SFTV to high profile industry members, donors, media; create, develop, and manage a broad communications program integrating key messaging to multiple audiences across multiple platforms; oversee content strategy and execution across all online platforms, creating compelling storytelling-video, photography and written-designed to drive engagement and mobilize SFTV's audience; in collaboration with the university's marketing and communication department produce marketing collateral; hire designers, photographers, and writers, effectively managing outside vendors; brief the Deans and other leaders as needed for interviews and public presentations; generate and effectively pitch news, features, articles and editorials that showcase SFTV activities to local, national, and international press, with a focus on entertainment media; understand the strengths and weaknesses of SFTV's principal competitors and proactively position SFTV with clear differentiation and messaging; in collaboration with the university's marketing and communication department develop advertising campaigns for general promotion of the school as well as specific projects and programs; work closely with SFTV's Development Director to help promote development activities, special donor events and programs; work closely with events staff to help cultivate audience for external events; serve as primary point person for media outreach and inquiries; measure results and successes of pitches, advertising campaigns, social media analytics and reports to SFTV leadership; and manage SFTV communications budget.

Advanced knowledge of public information and media relations concepts, principles, methodology and techniques, including social networking, is essential, as well as demonstrated skill at cultivating relationships with industry, influencers and talent. Candidates should possess a solid track record of media placements and established relationships with key media stakeholders, including national entertainment media. Candidates should also possess excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
