Lionsgate Television is looking for a VP of legal affairs. Under the direction of the SVP Legal Affairs, this department handles all development and production legal work for scripted programming for traditional television and new media. The ideal candidate will have experience in scripted television legal affairs.
The incumbent must have 3-5 years TV Legal Production Experience!
Primary duties will include:
• Managing all aspects of production legal work for a television program(s), including the day-to-day production legal work (e.g., conducting clearance meetings, drafting and commenting on rental agreements, location agreements, leases, guest star agreements, releases, various production documents, etc.).
• Drafting and redlining above-the line agreements and development agreements (e.g., rights agreements, writer agreements, network agreements, staffing deals, co-production documents, termination agreements, quitclaims, assignment, etc.)
• Advising and communicating with other departments within the television department on a variety of legal matters, including intellectual property rights and chain-of-title research.
Qualifications/Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years as an attorney, with a minimum of 3 years as a television production attorney on a multitude of scripted programs.
• Able to handle face paced production issues in a timely manner
• Knowledge of the applicable guilds/unions for television
• Knowledge of copyright and trademark law
• Excellent drafting, analytical, prioritizing, and organizational skills
• The ability to absorb information and interact with senior staff in a confident and professional manner
• Ability to be a team player and support all aspect of the legal affairs department.
• Member of the California State Bar
