Reporting to: Editorial Director
The Proofreader is a new position in the editorial group that is focused on ensuring accuracy and reliability across Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts' various content and communication channels. These channels include Playbill articles, promotional brochures, website copy, annual reports, newsletters, donor solicitations, etc. The Proofreader will be an integral part of the editorial team as well as work with different departments throughout Lincoln Center.
Responsibilities:
• Proofing written communications for accuracy, ease of reading and grammatical accuracy, including proofing names from various languages and historical periods
• Marking up errors or inaccuracies with standard proofing marks, and, occasionally, directly editing copy documents
• Ensuring that copy aligns with brand guidelines
• Maintaining and contributing to the Lincoln Center Editorial Style Guide
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in related field with proven experience of proofing/editing skills
• Excellent command of the English language
• Proven ability to collaborate with various individuals and departments
• Proven ability to work to deadlines without compromising accuracy
• Familiarity with contemporary editing tools and content management systems
• Flexibility to work in a fast-moving environment
• A high level of attention to detail
• Knowledge of page layout programs and Microsoft Word
• Background with the performing arts a plus
