ABOUT LINCOLN PARK COAST CULTURAL DISTRICT and MUSIC SPEAKS
Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to plan, design and develop a comprehensive cultural and arts district in Lincoln Park, a transitioning neighborhood, in Newark, New Jersey. LPCCD achieve its mission through arts and cultural programming, sustainable development, preservation of historic infrastructure and community leadership and engagement. In 2016 during Newark's 350th Anniversary Celebration, Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) re-launched our humanities program ''Music Speaks'', the free, interactive lecture, music and multimedia arts series, is designed to increase Newark citizens' appreciation for literature, art, photography, music, and dance. Leveraging the arts, LPCCD is also able to educate, inform and empower the community as well as celebrate it. This year, LPCCD celebrates its 15th Anniversary. The LPCCD Music Speaks program will serve as both an end to the 350th programming and beginning of LPCCD's milestone year.
ABOUT THE GIG: Historic Photo Shoot and Documentary Shoot; Evening Screening - Thursday, March 2nd, 2017
Inspired by Art Kane's 1958 iconic ''A Great Day In Harlem'' gathering of jazz musicians, Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District seeks to bring together amazing partners and - to recreate and update this historic photo shoot for the 21st Century, starring New Jersey legends and the ''new school'' of New Jersey Hip Hop, most of whom have graced the equally iconic Lincoln Park Music Festival stage on Hip Hop Day over the past 12 years. The day also includes the shooting of the ''Making Of…'' documentary short and a film screening that evening. The ''Making Of…'' documentary short will be shown at the Newark International Film Festival in September 2017.
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT SHIFTS:
9am-3pm / PAs Team 1 / 10 Total
3pm-9pm / PAs Team 2 / 10 Total
Areas of Support/ Responsibilities
Assist director/producer(s) with the following:
At Photo Shoot/Documentary Shoot
• Assist in preparing location set for photo shoot and documentary and break down/load out as needed (from start to end)
• Assist with checking in talent, securing signatures on releases and paperwork
• Assist with talent hospitality, escorting talent to/from interviews, tending to their needs
• Assist with craft services area
• Assist camera crews with production as needed (lights, sets, props, sound)
• Assist with general crowd control, answering FAQs and giving information,
• Assist/act as runner and deliver messaging between crew members
Afternoon and Evening
Assist with execution of Artist Hospitality ''Lounge Day Party'' and Film Screening that evening
General
• Undertake errands as assigned
• Must attend one production meeting prior to event
Skillset Required:
• Professional manner, especially in an entertainment ''on-set'' environment; the project come first. No egos.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, good on the phone
• Outgoing and friendly personality, along with creativity and enthusiasm
• Able to think strategically in fast paced environment and be solutions oriented
• Self-starter able to work independently and collaborate with others; team player with a desire to win
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Attention to detail and deadlines a must
• Must posses vision, ability to learn and able to follow direction and execute
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel; Powerpoint a plus); Proficient in Google products (Drive, Forms, etc.)
REQUIRED:
Must be full-time, part-time undergraduate or graduate student with access to email and cell phone.
NYC/Northern NJ metro area recommended.
