LightWorkers Media OTT, LLC, a joint venture of MGM and award-winning Executive Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, is seeking a Director, Editorial for the Company's new online venture launching in fall, 2017. LightWorkers' mission is to create engaging short form video and audio programming plus readable content that will make you think, smile, shed a tear and hopefully, brighten your day. We produce and curate highly shareable, authentic content for digitally savvy millennials, moms and a community of passionate fans who want to celebrate the good.
As the Director, Editorial, you will be a key contributor to the growth and success of the platform and will report directly to the VP of Content. With a keen vision for social amplification strategy and accountability for the development and maintenance of the overall editorial calendar, you will work closely with the Director of Originals and Audience Development and the Sales teams to help develop and deliver inspirational content that drives brand awareness, increases user engagement on the site (and future apps), and attracts new audiences across partner platforms and sites.
The right candidate may also manage the full team of videographers, preditors and social content creators. This is an exciting and high-profile role within the organization, with an opportunity to define a new platform and drive the direction of the LWM's digital brand toward exponential growth.
Responsibilities:
• Build a robust and engaging daily programming calendar that reflects the spirit and energy of the platform while fulfilling the needs of the audience
• Recruit, manage and shape an in-house team to program flat and video content across the entire site and build a network of contributors and bloggers that will create rich, shareable content specifically targeting a female millennial audience
• Establish audience and performance goals in collaboration with creative and business teams across the company including audience development, analytics, social media and sales
• Possess a strong understanding of the digital video landscape, including knowing the hottest trending content topics, the latest techniques for growing audience, effective distribution strategies and how to program video effectively across multiple platforms, devices and partners
• Build relationships with various content partners that will help further our content strategy and growth
Experience:
• 6-8 years' of editorial experience with relevant media company and experienced with digital publishing tools and content distribution
• Strong editorial instincts and ability to lead with deep experience in storytelling through programming of editorial/video content
• Excellent communication and research skills, and a keen eye for quality programming.
• Experience discovering and assigning writers and new voices, including developing a blogger network, that can identify and develop stories and concepts that lead to conversations on all digital platforms
• Content experience across a variety of social platforms, including Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, and an understanding of social content previews and promotional tactics
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve in a deadline driven environment and work well with different stakeholders across the organization
• Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills, able to work with senior management and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to anticipate the needs of an audience - not by instincts alone, but also via understanding a vast array of data and analytics, along with third-party partner reporting
• Experience in developing and programming content for a millennial audience
