Job Scope:
The main role of the Data Management Operator is to manage and maintain all data based work order requests from Production and Operations. The ideal candidate is a motivated self- starter who can handle multiple tasks concurrently. The successful candidate is an effective communicator with Production and Operations staff regarding the management of space for each project, and will collaborate with Engineering team to troubleshoot and create more efficient workflows with the storage network.
Key Responsibilities:
• Input and export files from work order requests
• Transfer files using client-specified methods based on work order requests (Aspera, Signiant, etc.)
• Create and maintain proper directory structure for feature and episodic projects
• Communicate progress on projects internally and to requesting owners
• Monitor the storage network; correct file names and provide proper directory structures, report and delete when space is needed
• Work with Production, Operations, Archival, and Machine Room staff to execute data requests
• Research LTO archival and verification methods
• Perform virus check function on each incoming file into the facility
• All other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience Required:
• A basic understanding of file-based work flows, color space, and codecs
• Experience with post-production systems including storage area networks, DVS Clipster, AVID, FCP, Adobe CS
• Experience with Linux, Unix, IOS, Windows
• Experience with file transfer tools (Aspera, Signiant)
• Experience with handing Firewires, LTOs, optical media, and USB storage devices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills within a fast-paced post-production environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position is for the evening hours but may require long hours and some weekend work. Starting hours are typically in the afternoon and evening of each day and will be based on client workload demand.
