Development Associate Producer - Loud Television
Loud TV is a New York based production company and a full-service
entertainment and Production Company that produces a broad range of
unscripted TV and digital content, including branded entertainment. Our clients
include National Geographic, Bravo, Animal Planet, FYI, HGTV, Cooking
Channel, The Travel Channel, Spike and Destination America.
The Role
We are a seeking to bring on a fearless, ambitious Development Associate
Producer to create exciting new unscripted content for a wide range of television
networks. This position requires an individual with a demonstrable track record in
unscripted television development, with very strong journalistic sensibilities, and
an expert grasp of online and social media content.
Passion for unscripted television and knowledge of current programming across
a variety of television networks is a must. Candidates should be ready for a huge
challenge on a small but tight-knit team, and be an incredible self-starter - with
an abundance of ideas and the determination to see them through.
Our areas of development are broad and we're looking for someone who has
as a keen sensibility about what's interesting and an enthusiasm for, and ability
to really dig into creating unique content, and finding ace talent in a variety of
lifestyle spaces-whether it be food, home, travel or the combination of the
above. The ideal candidate must have the ability to express strong opinions and
articulate them well, along with ace writing and research skills.
With your resumé, qualified candidates should also include links to blogs and/or
examples of some of your best writing samples. Also include examples of your
online presence - links to any pinterest, tumblr or social media pages where
you're expressing opinions on, or generating content. Be ready to pitch a few
ideas -- so we can get a good sense of what you could bring to Loud.
Major Responsibilities
• Lead on creating treatments, including; writing, editing, formatting, etc.
• Writing and/or editing and formatting sample stories.
• Writing and/or editing act breakdowns.
• Reviewing and making applicable changes to written materials (including
bios) prior to them being sent to networks.
• Research as needed for treatments, concepts, meetings
• Read trades and be aware of TV trends, programming, executive
movement, etc.
• Be proactive about networking with peers
• Project Manage Development projects - really own development from
start to finish on projects with oversight from Director and VP (this
ownership will grow over time)
• Work with Director on work flow doc for new projects
• Generate new program ideas and follow through them
• Casting new talent and performing Skype interviews & pulling selects
• Create Casting one-sheets
• Working with editors to edit Casting reels
• Editing Skype reels and possible concept reels (Not Required but
Preferred
)
• Placing Post Staffing Orders for development sizzles and keeping tabs on
the status of the work orders.
• Working with editors to oversee that all executive notes are addressed, as
well as adding notes for cuts
Qualifications
/ Requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong knowledge of TV development and production
• Strong journalistic sensibilities and a genuine curiosity in, and proven
ability in developing content and talent
• Strong knowledge of TV Networks' current programming
• Experience using video editing software (Final Cut, Premier, iMovie)
preferred by not required
Experience
2-5 years of related experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in
unscripted TV development and casting. Knowledge of communications field and
unscripted television production a plus; or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
Education
• High school degree or GED is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred in
Public Relations, Communications, Broadcast Production, Journalism, or
related field.
