Laughing Buddha Comedy is looking for a personal intern to work alongside owner, director, and professional stand up comic Jeff Lawrence. This is a very exciting entry level position in one of the fastest growing companies in comedy. Laughing Buddha Comedy produces over 80 Open Mics and Showcases a month, runs a great school, and has exciting growth prospects. Over 50 people currently intern, host or work in some capacity for LBC. But this is an exceptional opportunity to work directly with it's owner. The NY Times recently labeled Jeff a big name talent with connections... He has also been featured on the front pages of two of the largest newspapers in America; the Wall St. Journal and the Tampa Bay Times. As a performer he was recently filmed for a segment of Last Comic Standing, has a Grammy appearance with Bob Dylan, and has appeared on MTV Europe, national radio, and various commercials.
Candidates must be available some afternoons and some evenings including weekends and be strong administratively and familiar with Mac and Apple programs. You also must be able to work on your own and be self motivated. You will be working along side and learning from one of the very best when it comes to marketing, promotion, and social networking.
There will be many generous and valuable benefits including attending our comedy shows (Louis CK recently dropped in to do a set!) meeting industry personnel, learning the ropes of the entertainment business, and being a part of our comic community. It may also grow into a paid position. We are looking for someone available to start immediately currently residing in the NYC area. If you are interested please e-mail with your full name, phone number, resume, and a brief statement of interest and we will contact you as soon as possible. Thank you.
