The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL, is currently seeking one Spring semester intern to support the Bank of Hope Founders Cup Tournament starting in January 2017. Reporting to the Tournament Director, the Bank of Hope Founders Cup Intern will assist the Tournament staff in all aspects leading up to and throughout the tournament; office and volunteer management, ticket fulfillment, and various other responsibilities. We are searching for an exceptional student who is comfortable working on a team and independently.
The internship will be based in Phoenix, Arizona and the intern will be required to travel via personal transportation and work a varied schedule during the 3 months, starting January 2017 through the end of March 2017.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the point of contact for the general public ticket questions and credential distribution
Assist in grass roots marketing efforts of the event in promotions and other events in conjunction with the tournament
Work closely with Tournament Manager & Volunteer Chairmen for scheduling, training and managing volunteer force
Support the Director of Operations with vendor relationships and assist in operational duties such as overseeing credential process
Enter information into and manage the online volunteer database
Assist with office administration, ex. answering phones, ordering supplies, and other general responsibilities
Participate in special projects and assignments as requested
Requirements:
Must be a student actively enrolled in accredited College or University (Sophomore level or higher)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must have reliable transportation
Must be a self-starter and a problem solver
Must be well organized and have a strong work ethic
Must adapt quickly to understand database programs and software systems
Able to work independently and as a part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work long hours (including overtime and weekends) in a high stress environment
This position requires the ability to lift boxes, up to 40 pounds
Experience in the golf industry and/or event management is a plus
