The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL, is currently seeking a full time Director of Business Development. This position is responsible for increasing revenue by prospecting and securing new corporate partners and title sponsors by utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of the golf industry, sponsorship assets/value and relationship-building to increase revenue. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and will supervise the Senior Coordinator of Business Development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Create new and unique strategic sponsorship opportunities targeted at key consumer and business-to-business categories (e.g. auto, package goods, retail, travel, technology).
Identify the needs of a client through discussion of the client's objectives and strategies and champion those efforts that have the greatest strategic impact for both client's business and LPGA's business.
Identify core sellable/marketable LPGA assets and leverage those assets to secure new LPGA Corporate Partners.
Develop fully integrated partnership/sponsorship opportunities that include: broadcast media, consumer promotions, on-site tournament media/product sampling/hospitality, retail tie-ins, interactive media and grassroots tie-ins (e.g. Teaching &Club Professionals, Symetra Tour, Girls Golf).
Prepare customized presentations and written proposals to produce sales that exceed the annual revenue goals.
Work closely with the LPGA's Tournament Business Affairs department to assist in the development of title, presenting and/or other key tournament sponsors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Advertising, Marketing or Business.
5+ years' experience as a sales executive with proven sales results.
Corporate marketing/brand experience a plus
Knowledge of demographic and psychographic research tools (e.g., Scarborough, MRI, etc.) preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of the sponsorship industry, ideally with a women's professional sports or other professional golf organization, with a proven sales record and experience developing relationships and increasing revenue.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills particularly in developing clear, thoughtful presentations, writing proposals and effective sales presentation skills
Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, mobile environment, including frequent overnight travel
Must be a creative, yet strategic, thinker and possess persuasive and professional selling capabilities
Travel: 25% - 30%
