Job Summary:
The Chief Camera Operator is a hands on leader who knows how to tell great stories with video and sound, and can inspire excellence from his/her team. Our Chief Camera Operator manages, evaluates, and develops a team of field photographers.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the field news team in creating great stories with video and sound for daily news gathering activities;
• Recruit, train and develop staff field camera operators, and manage performance;
• Ensure vehicle and equipment maintenance is being performed regularly
• Coordinate work schedules for the field news camera operators to ensure broadcast deadlines are met.
• Find solutions to technical or other operational problems;
• Provide innovate ideas and experiment with new photography techniques;
• Stay current on filming methods and equipment;
• Provide coaching, instruction and advice on photography techniques to field camera operators (e.g.how best to shoot a scene and explain the visual impact created by particular shots;

Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience with television news photography, technical knowledge of ENG vehicles, and editing is a must.
• Ability to work with reporters and Multimedia Journalists, as well as independently be able to gather news stories and meet news deadlines is required.
• Minimum of 3 year of experience as a field camera operator of News broadcast
• Experience with lighting, optics, and cinematography
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to creatively frame and capture action; assemble, prepare and set up equipment prior to filming, which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables, leads and headphones;
• Ability to multi-task and work in a high pressure fast paced environment, usually with tight and changing deadlines.
• Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish a plus)
• Some college preferred
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA [no relocations]
• Must be willing to work long hours, holidays and weekends on short notice.
• Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background investigation
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
• Must possess valid CA DMV license and a good driving record.
• Must be 20 years or older
