Job Description:
As the audio and video director for Launch Media you will be responsible for several products: ''This Week in Startups'' podcast, LAUNCH events, and the LAUNCH Incubator. The demands of this position require the director to wear multiple hats. Having an intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of sound, cameras, lighting, and video editing will be necessary.
This Week in Startups, now in its sixth year with over 545 episodes, is a staple of the business podcasting community. The director is responsible for shooting and editing this program twice per week, in addition to pulling/editing clips and distributing them across social media.
LAUNCH Media holds several entrepreneurial events per year, including LAUNCH Festival; the largest startup conference in the world. The AV director is responsible for working with the rest of the team in realizing the vision each year. This involves building quotes with AV vendors in order to deliver the required AV needs on/under budget. Once the show is underway the director is 'running the show' alongside the stage manager.
The LAUNCH Incubator runs on Thursday nights for sessions occurring throughout the year. The director is responsible for filming the classes and distributing footage to the Incubator companies and, when appropriate, editing the talks for ''This Week in Startups.''
The Ideal candidate:
This person is a swiss-army knife of production. They can troubleshoot audio, set exposure on cameras, operate a live mixer, and learn new technical things on the fly. Keeping the podcast moving requires this person to operate as a 'one-person band' of production. The LAUNCH mission is to support founders and inspire innovation. Being personally invested in this mission will help carry you.
Another big component of this position is working with multiple AV vendors to build quotes based on needs and vision of the team, all while keeping the budgets as lean as possible. When an event is on the horizon this person anticipates ahead in order to deliver on all the proscribed AV needs.
Requirements:
Able to multitask in a fast-paced Audio and Video environment
2+ years working in Adobe Creative Suite
2+ years editing video under regular, ''must meet'' deliverable deadlines
2+ years experience coordinating AV vendor relationships
Firm understanding and experience with audio recording in many different environments (ex: outdoors, indoors with audience, indoors in studio, etc.)
Ability to juggle many projects at once
Awesome if you have:
Exposure and passion for entrepreneurship and tech startups
NewTek Tricaster chops
Live event producing portfolio
