Position Title: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Controller/Director Finance
Group: Accounting/Finance
Location: West Los Angeles
Summary Description:
The position will assist in administering all aspects of the company's accounting functions. Including but not limited to; Period End Close Processes, GL Administration, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations, Corporate Accounts Payable, 3rd Party and Intercompany Billing and Collections, Financial Reporting and Analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate the period end close processes, reconcile bank accounts, prepare and support journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and prepare period end accruals and amortizations.
• Collaborate on actual to budget variance analysis with commentary to accompany the financial statements.
• Assist in preparation of reporting requirements to parent company.
• Participate in the billings and collections functions for the company, including 3rd party and intercompany transactions.
• Assist in preparation of cash flow projections for company and specific projects as required.
• Liaise with Controller, Parent Company and outside CPA firm to ensure accurate & timely financial information is provided to management.
• Participate in the creation of TV series profitability estimates and analysis.
• Read and understand and model various TV series agreements, including licensing, production services, talent and other agreements.
• Assist with the execution of all planned & ad hoc reporting including but not limited to annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, quarterly business updates, and long-range forecasts.
• Calculate participation commitments and prepare participation reporting as due.
• Other duties / special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Prior entertainment industry experience preferred
• Public accounting experience / CPA are preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently while also being an active team member
• Ability to liaise effectively with other functional areas within the organization and with external partners
• Ability to manage multiple, deadline driven assignments
• Ability to work efficiently and proactively, with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to demonstrate discretion when working with highly confidential information.
• Candidate should have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to thrive in a demanding environment
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
• Facility with Microsoft Office applications as well as G/L reporting packages. SAP, Quickbooks and/or VISTA accounting software a plus
