JOB TITLE: EMERGING PLATFORMS VIDEO PRODUCER
DEPARTMENT: NEWS, Digital Media
REPORTS TO: Executive Producer, Digital
DUTIES: The emerging platforms video producer is responsible for producing native video for KTLA's social media accounts, website and other emerging platforms. Producer must be able to select stories, gather elements and work closely with reporters and producers to quickly build well-reported, platform-specific stories. Producer must show excellence in video storytelling with strong composition, timing and presentation, all while working within KTLA's voice and meeting the highest standards of journalism. Attention to detail along with a mastery of spelling, punctuation, grammar, print news writing and AP Style are a must. Applicant must be able to integrate content with broadcast coverage and interact with assignment desk, television newscast producers and on air talent. Knowledge of Final Cut X, After Effects, Photoshop and WordPress are preferred.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in news and video production. A mastery of non-linear video editing is expected. Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other emerging platforms. Must have excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. Strong organizational and communication skills, news judgment and staying up-to-date on current affairs are required. Candidate must be detail-oriented, able to follow directions, ability to perform duties, work well with others and make independent decisions under extreme pressure. Experience in television news production and broadcast writing strongly preferred. Business needs also require individual to be able to work various shifts and times, including early mornings and special events as needed.
