Overview:
KSTU Fox 13 Sales Internships are designed to provide the student with an overall view of how the station’s sales department works including production of The PLACE, a 60 minute sales driven show. Students have the option of concentrating their efforts on an aspect of the department that is of particular interest; however, they will not be ''assigned'' a particular function or responsibility they are expected to perform on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
This overall view of the department includes, but is not limited to:
• Assisting The PLACE producers meeting segment guests, getting them to the set and ready for the show. Must be friendly, professional and accommodating at all times when dealing with the public.
• Assisting account executives and sales assistants answering phones, preparing sales orders, maintaining files.
• Observing and assisting account executives, research director, and sales assistants.
• Acquiring some ''hands-on'' experience in each of the above-mentioned areas.
• May also gain some exposure to preparing and making client presentations, compiling market research, finding prospective clients, etc.
A minimum of three eight-hour days per week (or the equivalent) spanning the length of a quarter/semester for purposes of continuity is required. Interns should start at the beginning of each academic semester.
Qualifications:
Internships require academic credit; a letter from their school confirming this academic recognition must be submitted before starting the internship. KSTU’s internships pay minimum wage.
It should be clearly understood that KSTU internships do not lead to employment with this television station.
All internships should be referred to Human Resources for proper documentation and interviews.
