KSTU, FOX13 SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, is looking for a Director of Technology to oversee, design and develop IT-based broadcast systems at its studio, transmitter and remote locations. The role is both strategic and hands-on. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the implementation and management of IT-centric technologies and operational models within a broadcasting environment; specifically in Local News and field operations.
Responsibilities
This leadership position, reporting directly to the Station General Manager, requires extensive experience in planning, budgeting, managing, maintaining and troubleshooting a wide variety of IP-based systems critical to our broadcast operation. While overall leadership and management of personnel and systems is critical to this position, all station executive positions are expected to assume and perform daily operational duties with their respective teams. Prior experience with station building construction or other facility build-outs is a plus. This “never stops learning” position requires the desire and drive to stay competent in the latest trends in broadcast television and related internet/web systems.
The candidate must be highly organized with a good sense of how to prioritize deadlines and juggle multiple simultaneous objectives. He/she must have the ability to lead and manage multiple projects from conceptual stage through to launch, including budget tracking and reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interface with all levels of management & user community are essential. The candidate must have the ability to manage and develop the team, helping staff technicians reach their highest potentials. As is typical with critical IT and broadcast systems, the applicant must be willing to be on call and is expected to join team members in sharing this responsibility.
